Shanghai Street is the old and long road in the Kowloon Peninsula.

It was the bund when it was first called Police Station Street before reclamation.

The Colonial Government renamed it as Shanghai Street to show Hong Kong’s close trade relationship with the rich Shanghai.

Shanghai Street was once very prosperous.

Its commercial hub status was just replaced by Nathan Road after WWII.

Today you can still tour Shanghai Street by yourself (TIY) to see the places of interest.

Travelers can also have Frank the tour guide’s Kowloon private car tour to see Shanghai Street, visit other nice sightseeing points and taste delicious local tea set.

You can find the beautiful Kowloon Park, which was a British Army Barrack, at the end of Shanghai Street in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Center is located in the park and occupies two old barrack buildings.

It shows Hong Kong’s efforts on revitalizing the heritage buildings, like the Yau Ma Tei Theatre and Former Pumping Station of Water Supplies Department on Shanghai Street.
